I'm a 16 year old musician living in the heart of tennessee, nashville. I've been into music all my life, so I found out about purevolume a good while back. Skip a lot of details and Brad from unborn media invited me to virb. The whole customization stuff looked killer, so I gave it a shot. Wound up with a pretty horrible layout at first, then settled on the one that I have up now. It's gone through some tweaking, and I'll probably keep tweaking it forever.

Living in the south inspired my profile design. Kind of the classy yet a worn, used feel to it. I used photoshop for all the design and textmate to code the css/xhtml. If anyone has any questions feel free to send me a message or the like.

I was born and raised on a sheep farm in rural Maryland, can fit 27 grapes in my mouth at once, have biked across the United States and get through the toils of a nine-to-five by looking forward to a glass of wine and my sketchbook at night. My mom thinks I'm handsome and my friends think I'm a dork. I'm inspired by the everyday and the connections people create with each other. I believe it's important to understand how large the world is and laugh at yourself, especially when you have chocolate milk in your mouth. And I believe there's really nothing better than a cool drink on a countryside porch in the Summer evening.

[what my profile is about] It's really a silly concept. I'm a freelancer from the Chicago area. The inspiration for this profile came from my love for photography and Tanya Merone (http://tanyamerone.com). I really loved her 1 page portfolio and the way the ribbons separated the content and overlapped the borders. I tried to do the same for my virb profile by using the film rolls to break up the sections and display the headers.

I'm Matt, and I enjoy Web Design as a hobby. I enjoy the feeling I get when I learn something new, or create a compliant design. It's a great feeling! When I'm not visiting my favorite websites, or thinking of a new design I'll either be outside, watching TV/Movies, or having the occasional video game session. Who knows, maybe taking your mind off of Web Design completely will spark an idea!? To elaborate on movies: I enjoy horror films, and I'm getting more into Foreign Horror. I also like action, and comedies.

Honestly, my Virb account is used to satisfy my "design" tooth. I do use it as a blog, and a way to connect with people that share similar interests of mine. I also like to join groups to show support from my favorite hobbies/interests/etc but I end up joining to many that it's hard to keep up.

My profile wasn't really inspired by anything, the only idea I got was from a open source template on the Open Design Community. I get a lot of inspiration from browsing DeviantART, CSS Galleries, and viewing other peoples layouts.

** Who am I? **
I'm a web standards evangelist at heart; a Markup Magician and CSS Connoisseur. Functionally, I'm a web standards and Web Accessibility wizard at some kind of fruit company. I've dabbled in design and making websites since my early teen years, so somewhere around 10 years now. In my career so far, I've done videogame journalism, programming, database design, content writing (on Web development techniques) and public speaking.

All that aside, I love photography and movies, anything that involves storytelling actually. I'm a sucker for stories, to the point where I love starting to write them -- I just never seem to find the time to finish any.

** What is my Virb about? **
Really, my Virb is mostly just a design exercise. I hadn't had a chance to do any page design in a while, because my job doesn't require that of me so much, and thus creating a customized Virb profile was a great opportunity for me. I wanted it to be this somewhat expressive statement of who I am, and what I'm about, which is a major photography fan who is extremely passionate about web standards and creative experimentation, thinking outside the box if you will. I feel that my Virb design conveys these things suitably well, but I mostly hope others will think so, too.

Bence Kucsan is an interactive designer and developer currently residing in Hungary - in the heart of Europe - with a burning passion for designing - and sometimes building - simple, accessible, and beautiful graphical interfaces for all kind of websites and web apps with quality over quantity methodology - using web standards. He is the founder of the design agency called Svenigson Studios, which is still a one-man show but one day will be taking over the world.

I guess for this design I was inspired by various photography and some uses of typography I saw around from numerous sources. Using photography and typography together in simplistic way can sometimes spark ideas or themes to pull a design together with.

I am the founding partner of Vantage Street, a web design and development company. I have been doing some form of web design for over 10 years now and believe me many things have changed since then. People ask designers where they get their inspiration, and sometimes it is hard to answer, and other times (as it is with this layout) that inspiration can be described. I got the "vision" for my design while standing in the kitchen washing my hands in the kitchen sink. I was looking out the window at a huge bare oak tree, being silhouetted against a grey-blue sky. I finished washing my hands, ran to my desk and started sketching my idea.

Each element of the page is there by design. There are three main sections, wings, roots, and about. The wings section represents my freedom I enjoy as a business owner and the freedom I enjoy as a web designer, you know that "spread your wings and fly" kind. The roots section are those things that root one's character. And the last section is the "get to know you better" section. I kept it simple with loads of meaning as a back current.

As a designer one is usually not happy with a final work (for very long), but this look continues to keep my joy. I hope you enjoy my profile as much as I do.
